Mount Bethel UMC Mission Activities
.
Mt Bethel UMC is active in several ongoing ministries. We want to keep you informed—and involved! For many of these ministries, there is a need for more folks to give time and skills to make them work. Overall input? Contact Kathy Heller (katherine.heller523@gmail.com) or anyone on the Missions Committee.
Ongoing Ministries
Backpack ministry – We pack and deliver 20 bags of food to students at two nearby schools each week. These children might otherwise might go hungry over the weekend. Contact the church office (919-477-4296) for more information.
Food pantry-We open our food pantry to the community from 5:30 to 7:00 (effective until Standard Time begins in the fall of 2024) on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month. We currently serve about 90 families each month. Contact Kathy Heller for more information. See Fish and Loaves food pantry here. Please also see our Facebook page here.
Please look on our Food pantry page for a list of food pantries in this area and also a schedule of meeting times for food pantries in Durham county.
Open Table: ( to be participating soon) Each week, on a rotating schedule, volunteers from local churches bring a hot home-cooked meal to the roadside near where homeless people live. To share a good meal and friendly conversation, Open Table gathers each Monday at Trinity UMC in Durham. Mt. Bethel helps to cook the meals once every quarter and helps with some of the needs such as supplying sleeping bags, tents, heaters, warm clothes, companionship and money.
